Bronchial Support Steam

Pantry medicine utilizes effective, gentle yet strong medicinal herbs traditionally kept at hand for multi-use as food and effective remedies. Our Bronchial Support Steam is inspired by the row of hinged-top glass jars my mother repurposed to hold her go-to herbal formulas. She’d pull this jar out of the pantry when one of us had a stuffy nose, cough, congestion, allergies, or sinus infection. The formula soothes respiratory dryness, irritation, cough, and congestion as a personal steam bath or for the benefit of an entire room. 

External Use Only

To use for an entire room: 

• Hot plate/stove
• 4-6 quart pot
• 3-3.5 quarts for a 4 qt pot; 4-5.5 quarts for a 6-quart pot
• 1-2 TBL botanical steam mixture

Add water to pot, place on a heat source, and allow water to reach a low boil.  Reduce to a simmer then gently sprinkle 1-2 TBL spoons of herbal steam powder. Keep at a simmer and add more water to the pot once 1/3 of the pot has transformed into steam. Do not leave unattended.

Single-use Personal Steam session

You’ll need to set up your mise en place:

• A bath towel large enough to cover your head and the vessel with herbal steam
• Hand or face towel damped with cold water
• Medium size pot with boiled water
• 1-2 TBL spoons Bronchial Support Steam

Add water to pot, place on a heat source, and allow water to reach a low boil.  Reduce to a simmer then gently sprinkle 1-2 TBL spoons of herbal steam powder. Turn heat off. Grab the damp cold towel and place it to the side of the pot. Ensuring the heat source is turned off, lean over the pot keeping 12 inches between your nose and the surface of the water. Focus on slow easy breathing for the next 10-15 minutes. When you’re finished, run the cold damp towel over your face and neck, pat dry, and remove the towel.

Coltsfoot – moistens lungs, stops cough, transforms phlegm

Gordolobo –  moistens lungs, soothes inflammation, stops cough
